Open source can have a role in securing networks

Communications networks are the lifeblood of business today -- keeping us all connected and allowing information to flow nonstop in our global economy. In many respects, business nearly comes to a halt if the network goes down. Just think: no e-mail, no instant messaging, no Internet access, and no phone (for all those VoIP users). We might as well all go home, right?
